You’ve probably heard of the typical symptoms of menopause:

  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Insomnia
  • Mood swings
  • Irritability
  • Acne
  • Changes in your cycle (heavier, watery, flooding, and/or cycle irregularity)
  • Painful intercourse


But what about symptoms you may never have heard of?

Symptoms that are not usually talked about or considered part of menopause?

  • Lack of confidence
  • Inability to cope with stress
  • Feelings of doom or dread of the future
  • Anger
  • Crying for no reason
  • The need to re-orient your life around what you most care about
  • New fears and anxieties
  • Needing a new way to connect with your deepest self
  • Different or new symbols for a growing, changing concept of God (or whatever word you prefer)

These are symptoms of menopause, too. 


Menopause is a holistic process

Menopause is the breakdown of your hormonal cycle, as we all know. But how and when your hormonal cycle changes is unique to every woman. Some women lose estrogen abruptly, some see a gradual lessening of the hormone as the years go by.

This makes all the difference in how to take care of your menopause.

But menopause is also a holistic process, because when estrogen (and all the other hormones) leaves your system it doesn’t just leave your body- it leaves your mind, emotions, and spirit, too.

Women are estrogen-based creatures.
Estrogen drives our brains- and our ability to perceive, think, and decide.
It also drives our emotions; how and when we feel, what we feel and for how long.
Because estrogen is so richly embedded in our bodies and minds, it is also the basis for our spiritual side.

When estrogen reduces during menopause, it can bring changes to many areas of our life.
